PRIVACY & DATA PROTECTION
Privacy Policy
Effective and last updated: September 20, 2026
This Privacy Policy explains how Driver Belize collects, uses, discloses, stores and protects information when you use the Driver Belize website, passenger and business services, or the Driver Belize Worker Android app (package bz.driverbelize.worker). The Worker app is restricted to approved Taxi Drivers, Runmen and Administrators.
1. Information we collect
| Category | Examples and purpose |
|---|---|
| Identity and account information | Name, username, email address, telephone number, account role, approval and suspension status, login and session information, business name, business address and type, business representative details, vehicle details, licence plate, application information and administrator security records. We use this to create and secure accounts, verify roles and administer the service. |
| Precise and approximate location | Pickup and destination coordinates, saved places, route information, location accuracy and a Taxi Driver's or Runman's live device location during an applicable active job. We use this to calculate routes and fares, match and complete requests, provide navigation and share job progress with the assigned passenger. |
| Ride and delivery details | Service type, pickup and destination, passenger count, distance, estimated duration, scheduled time, passenger notes, multiple-run instructions, status, timestamps, cancellations and completion records. |
| Messages and audio | Text chat, sender identity, timestamps, and voice recordings of up to 30 seconds exchanged during an accepted request. Microphone access is used only when a person chooses to record a voice message. |
| Earnings, fees and ratings | Fares, completed work, monthly earnings summaries, platform-fee balances and payments, passenger ratings and feedback. We use this for dashboards, account administration, dispute handling and service quality. |
| Device and notification information | Android installation identifier, Firebase Cloud Messaging token, device platform, notification status and delivery-failure information. We use this to deliver role-specific request alerts and maintain notification reliability. |
| Security and technical information | Hashed network-address signals, device/browser user agent, audit records, rate-limit events, and error or diagnostic information. We use this to prevent abuse, protect accounts and troubleshoot the service. |
| Optional website analytics | If a website visitor selects “Allow analytics,” Google Analytics may measure visits, general usage and device type. Driver Belize does not intentionally send names, account details, ride information, chats or live location to optional analytics. Visitors may decline or later change this choice. |
2. How we use information
- Authenticate users and enforce Passenger, Business, Taxi Driver, Runman and Administrator permissions.
- Create, price, dispatch, accept, monitor and complete taxi and delivery requests.
- Show workers request details, earnings, fees, ratings, booking reminders and work history.
- Deliver new-request notifications to signed-in, approved Taxi Drivers or Runmen for their respective service.
- Support private request chat, voice messages, navigation and active-job location sharing.
- Review applications, manage account status, respond to support and privacy requests, investigate misuse and comply with legal obligations.
3. Location information
The Worker app requests location only when it is needed for an active job. A Taxi Driver's live sharing ends when the driver reaches the pickup point. A Runman's live sharing ends when the active job is completed. The current live worker coordinates are then cleared from the active request. Pickup, destination, route and job-history details may remain as operational records.
The app does not request Android background-location permission. Background notifications use Firebase Cloud Messaging and do not, by themselves, collect location. A worker may deny location permission, but active-job tracking and related functions may then be unavailable.
4. When information is disclosed
Information is disclosed only as needed to operate, secure or legally support the service:
- Assigned participants: relevant request, contact, chat and live-location details may be visible to the passenger and assigned worker during the request.
- Authorized administrators: administrators may access accounts, applications, requests, fares, fees, ratings, messages and audit information for operations, support, safety and enforcement.
- Service providers: hosting and storage, Firebase notification delivery, email delivery, booking reminders, map/geocoding/routing and optional consent-based website analytics providers process limited information needed to supply their services.
- Legal and safety reasons: information may be disclosed when reasonably necessary to comply with law, respond to lawful requests, protect people, prevent fraud or defend legal rights.
Driver Belize does not sell personal information.
5. Retention
We retain information only for as long as reasonably necessary to provide the service, maintain security, administer accounts, preserve current trip and payment records, resolve disputes and meet legal obligations. Live worker coordinates are cleared when the applicable sharing period ends. Notification tokens are deactivated when a worker signs out or when a token is no longer valid.
For passengers who continue as guests without creating an account, identifying profile and contact information is deleted or anonymized after two hours.
At the start of each new month, closed Taxi and Runman records from the completed month are placed in a private administrator download. The file is available for 15 days. When that period ends, the file and its detailed request, route, chat, rating, passenger and worker run-history records are permanently deleted.
Cumulative accounting information is retained separately and continues updating after detailed records are deleted. This includes Taxi and Runman fees, payments, credits, payouts owed, outstanding balances, completed-run counts, earnings and passenger spending totals.
Information may be deleted, anonymized or retained longer when required or permitted by law, including when needed to prevent fraud or preserve evidence.
6. Security
Driver Belize uses encrypted HTTPS connections, password hashing, protected session tokens, server-side role and approval checks, restricted request access, rate limiting, audit controls and limited administrative access. No method of electronic storage or transmission is completely secure, so absolute security cannot be guaranteed.
7. Your choices and requests
- Android settings allow you to control notification, location and microphone permissions.
- Website visitors can accept, decline or reopen Analytics preferences.
- You may request access, correction or deletion of information associated with your account, subject to identity verification and lawful retention requirements.
8. Children
Driver Belize is not directed to children under 13, and the Worker app is intended only for approved adult workers and administrators. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13.
9. Changes to this policy
We may update this policy when the service or legal requirements change. The latest version will be posted at this address with its effective date.
